Meet Karen

Karen Pauley-Swain brings more than 30 years of experience, passion, and heart to the beauty industry. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Karen began her career in barbering during a time when the profession was evolving into a unisex industry. As a master barber, she built a strong foundation in precision haircutting while embracing the creativity and ever changing trends that continue to shape the beauty world today.

Throughout her career, Karen has remained inspired by the evolution of beauty and wellness. Her passion for helping others look and feel their best naturally expanded into the wellness space, reinforcing her belief that true beauty starts from within.

Karen specializes in precision cuts and dimensional color, combining technical skill with an artistic eye to create styles that are both flattering and personalized for each guest. With decades of experience behind the chair, she loves connecting with people, understanding their beauty goals, and helping them leave the salon feeling confident and refreshed.

Karen believes education in this industry never stops. Her short term goal is to continue learning and evolving alongside new techniques and trends. Looking ahead, she is especially interested in expanding her knowledge of hair toppers and solutions for clients experiencing thinning hair so she can help even more people regain confidence in their hair.

Outside of the salon, Karen’s greatest joy is her family. Her three children and her granddaughter Addi are truly her heart in motion. She enjoys nature walks, gardening, relaxing days at the beach, quiet moments on her porch, and meaningful time spent with friends. Karen is also a certified health coach and enjoys sharing wellness knowledge with anyone interested in living a healthier, more balanced life.
